Jack Steinmetz, Kent County Economic Development Director, announced a major cooperative effort between Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Cecil Counties. The three counties are joining to develop and establish a vineyard management company which is designed to dramatically increase the number of vineyards in the area by allowing landowners and farmers to establish vineyards based on the amount of actual work they are interested in doing. Part of that process will include holding wine and vineyard workshops throughout the three counties. The first such workshop will be held Wednesday, September 19th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Terrapin Station Winery on Route 213 and Ricketts Mille Road in Elkton, MD 21921 (www.terrapinstationwinery.com). The workshop is free and the speaker will be Mr. Kevin Atticks, Executive Director, Maryland Wine Association. Anyone with an interest in vineyard and winery operations is invited to attend. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Based on the success of last year’s trial program, Junior Achievement is being extended to all 3rd & 4th grade classes in Kent County. Volunteers are needed to teach one 40 minute class per week for 5 weeks, starting October 8. If you can’t volunteer, you can sponsor a class for $260.
