The Kent County Gateway Committee invites professional artists and artist teams to submit proposals for a permanent, site-specific public artwork to serve as the “Gateway to Chestertown.”
Located along Morgnec Road (Maryland Route 291), this landmark installation will reflect the cultural, historical and natural identity of Kent County while welcoming visitors to the historic town of Chestertown for generations to come.
The selected artist will create an iconic piece that represents the community’s spirit and enhances the entrance to town. Finalists will receive stipends to develop full proposals, with the winning artist awarded a $75,000 commission to bring their design to life.
