On Wednesday, April 23, the Kent County Chamber of Commerce welcomed legislators from Maryland’s 36th District for a Post-Legislative Session Discussion at Heron Point in Chestertown. The event provided local residents, business owners, and community leaders an opportunity to engage directly with elected officials about the outcomes of the 2025 Maryland General Assembly session.

The Kent County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Community Excellence Awards held on January 29th at the Chester River Yacht and Country Club in Chestertown. These awards honor outstanding contributions to our community, through commitment, innovation, and leadership in three distinct categories. Harborview Farms was named the 2025 Business of the Year, Shore Community Outreach Team was awarded the 2025 Organization of the Year, and Kristen Owen was recognized as the 2025 Individual of the Year.
The role of this position is to ensure the effective operation of the Kent County Chamber of Commerce office. This individual must be both detail-oriented and customer service focused in order to ensure the effective internal operations of the Kent Chamber. As the first contact for members and the community, the Deputy Executive Director will work to maintain a welcoming environment both in person and through electronic communication.

The Kent County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its Inaugural Golf Tournament, proudly sponsored by Cross Street Realtors. This highly anticipated event will take place on Monday, June 17th, at the Chester River Yacht and Country Club and is open to all golf enthusiasts in the community. The tournament will feature a scramble format, with registration beginning at 11:00 AM and a shotgun start at noon. Today, For All Seasons Behavioral Health and Rape Crisis Center provides expert mental health services, victim crisis support, education and outreach, and statewide leadership. The agency’s unique model of care ensures that no one in the region has to imagine life without these services, regardless of language or ability to pay.
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has recently announced a series of planned awards and investments in Kent County, totaling more than $2M in total funding that will benefit Kent County and its residents, businesses, and communities. DHCD’s State Revitalization Program (SRP) has selected Kent County entities for awards through a variety of programs
The Chestertown Rotary Club presented Kent County Public Schools this month with a donation for its visual arts program. Beverly Birkmire, the club's foundation chair, attended the Board of Education's monthly meeting Jan. 12 with a check for $3,500. The money was raised during the club's annual Soup and Sip event, held last October at Chester River Yacht and Country Club.

Kent County Public Schools' deaf and hard of hearing teacher was honored with this month's Golden Anchor Award for her dedication, kindness and unwavering patience. Karen Martin received her award from the Kent County Board of Education Monday night, Jan. 12.
The Garfield Center will be holding open auditions in early February for “The SpongeBob Musical”, a family friendly show that will run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM from April 17th through May 3rd. The production will be directed by Abbey Wark, and the production Sponsors are Chesapeake Bank and Trust and Kent School.
