Kent County Public Schools' second Judy Center is holding a grand opening celebration this month.
The Judy Center Early Learning Hub at Galena Elementary School launched this year and the team there is hosting a grand opening at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24.
Families are invited to join the grand opening celebration and visit with the Judy Center's staff and program partners. There will also be food and giveaways at the grand opening.
"We are so very excited to share our new center with the families in our community," said Erin Legg, Judy Center coordinator at Galena Elementary School. "We look forward to seeing many friends, both new and old, and sharing with them the opportunities that the Judy Center will bring to us."
Named for the late Judith P. Hoyer, an early childhood educator and wife of long-serving Maryland Congressman Steny Hoyer, Judy Centers throughout the state serve early learners.
These specially funded programs promote school readiness for children in high-need areas. Judy Centers offer full-day programs for children ages birth to 5 years old.
Judy Center programming is developed with funds from the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Early Childhood.
Kent County Public Schools now has two Judy Centers: the newly opened center at Galena Elementary School and another at H.H. Garnet Elementary School in Chestertown.
Joining Legg at Galena Elementary School's Judy Center is Melissa Cannon, the family service coordinator.
Galena Elementary School is located at 114 S. Main St., Galena.
