Kent County Appoints Robert (Bob) W. Gast, Jr. as New Chief Financial Officer

The Kent County Commissioners are pleased to announce Robert (Bob)  W. Gast, Jr. as the County’s new Chief Financial Officer. Gast brings 35+ years of financial leadership experience  across major nonprofit, corporate, government-related, and international organizations. His background  includes leading large-scale financial transformations, improving operational transparency, and strengthening  long-term fiscal performance.  

Gast most recently served as Executive Vice President and CFO for the United States Naval Academy Foundation  & Alumni Association, where he modernized financial reporting, reorganized treasury operations, and achieved  five consecutive clean audits. He also oversaw the successful completion of the new $40 million Alumni Center  project.  

His previous roles include senior financial leadership positions with the Baltimore Orioles, Bloomberg/BNA,  Rosetta Stone, Viacom/BET, and other multi-state and international organizations, where he led audit,  compliance, analytics, and capital strategy initiatives. Gast holds both an MBA and BS in Finance from the  University of Baltimore.
