New Season Brings Beautiful Music and an Exciting New Concert Experience

October 18, 2026 Concert: Pianist Ramilya Saubanova and Cellist Evanghelina Ciobanu

The Mainstay in Rock Hall, Maryland, is pleased to announce the four classical music concerts for the upcoming season of the Hedgelawn Classical Music Series at The Mainstay in honor of Judy Kohl.

“We continue to attract top classical musicians to the very special venue that is The Mainstay,” said Classical Music Coordinator Muphen Whitney. “This season will offer not only beautiful music from solo musicians and chamber groups; there also will be the excitement of a new concert experience with internationally-renowned guitarist William Feasley’s concert on May 2, 2027.

November 15, 2026 Concert: Lutenist Ronn McFarlane

“This concert will be the Maryland premiere of ‘The French Perspective’ that consists of visual works of art by French Impressionist Masters that Feasley accompanies on guitar with music of the period. The work was commissioned by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to accompany its major exhibit – ‘The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse’ from the Dallas Museum of Art’ – on the works of French Impressionists. Feasley will be touring throughout Virginia culminating in a performance at the Museum on April 2, 2027 followed one month later with the Maryland premiere of this important work at The Mainstay. This will be a very special concert for our entire community to enjoy.”

The new season begins on Sunday, October 18 with Pianist Ramilya Saubanova and Cellist         Evanghelina Ciobanu who will present duo and solo pieces including a Bach Cello Suite, Cello Sonatas by Brahms and Shostakovich, a solo piano piece by composer Mark Maarder, and a piece for cello by Andrea Casarrubios.

March 7, 2027 Concert: Pianist Carter McMullen Flutist Amanda Dame

On Sunday, November 15, Lutenist Ronn McFarlane, a Mainstay audience favorite, will perform on lute and classical guitar works by English, Italian, French, and German composers from the 16th and 17th centuries. These works feature John Dowland, Francesco da Milano, Hans Newsidler, Robert Ballard, and – of course -- that all-time favorite and most prolific composer: Anonymous.

The first classical concert of 2027 at The Mainstay will be on March 7 when Pianist Carter McCullen and Flutist Amanda Dame of Salon Concerts of Baltimore bring one of their beautifully conceived concerts to our community. The program will include duos and solos of music by composers such as Debussy, Fauré, and Poulenc that will take the audience on a journey from the Late-Romantic Era through to the Modern Era of classical music.

May 2, 2027 Concert: William Feasley

Closing out this season’s concerts will be the Maryland premiere of William Feasley’s “The French Perspective” on May 2, 2027 – a perfect blend of French art and French classical music. This is a not-to-be-missed concert.
