The Chestertown Rotary Club Soup & Sip Winners 2025

The day was just right for gathering at the Chester River Yacht and  Country Club to sample crab soups and wine. The Chestertown Rotary Club’s 8th Annual  Soup & Sip crab soup competition on October 25th was the occasion, and folks from the  area, as well as visitors to town, gathered to choose the winners. 

The winners of the soup competition were Watershed Alley for best Maryland Crab, Thomas  Kaylor accepted the award, and The Flying Decoy for best Cream of Crab, Chris Golder accepted the award. Awards were presented by committee members Jamie Williams and Beverly Birkmire. 

The winners received a plaque to display in their restaurant. Ten local restaurants  participated in the event, including The Kitchen at the Imperial, Luisa’s Cucina Italiana,  Osprey Point, Molly’s Restaurant, Harbor Shack, Watershed Alley, Deep Blue at Kitty Knight,  The Flying Decoy, The Fish Whistle, and Chester River Yacht and Country Club. 

Sponsors included Eastman, Angelica Nurseries, Inc, The Dixon Group, The People’s Bank,  Eastern Shore Financial Services, Upper Shore Regional Council, WCTR Radio, Tidewater  Trader, Kent County News, The Chestertown Spy, The Evening Enterprise, Kent County Crier, Heron Point of Chestertown, Frank Rhodes Furniture, JH Silcox Engineering & Drafting, Twigs  and Teacups, David A. Bramble, Chesapeake Bank & Trust, Bespoke Chocolate, Happy  Grass, Coldwell Banker, Red Acres, Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam, and Bartlett Tree. 

Two large baskets filled with wine, along with wine and soup-related items were raffled. All  contents were donated by Rotary members.  

This year’s recipient of the Rotary Club’s fundraiser is the Visual Arts Programs at Kent County  Public Schools.
