On June 27, 2023, the UM Chester River Health Foundation sponsored a “make-your-own-sundae” event to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated courtyard at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, which includes a new pavilion and outdoor furniture. In attendance were team members, Foundation board members, and donors; music was provided by DJ Pres Jacobs.
The “seed” funding for some cosmetic improvements to the courtyard and landscaping came from Bob Roth, former Foundation chair and current member of UM Shore Regional Health Board of Directors and Wendy Sand Eckel. SMC at Chestertown Medical Center Vice President Dennis Welsh presented a plan for more extensive renovations, including pavilion replacement, walkway repairs, and electrical wiring, which the Foundation board, under the leadership of chair Dick Barker, agreed to fund.
The renovated courtyard will provide a needed oasis for Medical Center team members, patients and family members.
