Thanks to supporters who purchased yard signs thanking front line workers in the COVID-19 crisis, the Downtown Chestertown Association (DCA) and Main Street Historic Chestertown raised $3,000 for the Chester River Health Foundation.

In March, when the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health suspended elective surgeries to focus on preparations for COVID-positive patients, several care teams from the three hospitals were deployed to other units and tasks where they could be of the greatest help.

Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced a $445,000 award to the Chestertown Marina in Kent County from the USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program. These funds will be used to support infrastructure improvement necessary for stormwater management drainage at the marina.

Each May, University of Maryland Shore Regional Health recognizes excellence in nursing at a formal awards ceremony held at the Todd Performing Arts at Chesapeake College. This year, due to COVID-19, the six awards were presented via an online event celebrating the 32 nominees for the individual awards, three nominees for the unit awards, and the six winners.

The Kent County Small Business COVID-19 Emergency Grant Fund offers working capital to assist Kent County for-profit, small businesses with disrupted operations due to COVID-19. Grant assistance is intended to provide interim relief complementing arrangements with the business’ bank, business interruption insurance, financial institutions, federal and state partners.

Advanced medical tents will replace the triage tents that had been installed earlier this month at UM Shore Medical Centers at Chestertown, Dorchester, and Easton, hospital officials announced.
