Kent County Public Schools annually honor a Teacher of the Year, Support Employee of the Year and a Promising Educator.

University of Maryland Chester River Health Foundation (UM CRHF) recently elected new officers for a three-year term to its board of directors. The Foundation raises funds for patient care services and equipment at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown; the hospital is part of the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), which is a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System.

The fair is open to all high school students in Kent County. We need your expertise! We'd like to have colleges, branches of the military, non-profits, and local businesses available to share opportunities: careers, internships, summer employment, volunteering, and more.
Sherrie Hill, RN, named “Everyday Hero”
Sherrie Hill, RN, MSN, CSHFN, clinical coordinator, University of Maryland Shore Medical Center (UM SMC) at Chestertown, was recently honored as an “Everyday Hero.” Hill was nominated by Mary Carlisle, a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation patient, for the knowledgeable and accessible care she provides at the hospital. Dr. Couch Announces Plan to Retire
Dr. Karen Couch, superintendent of Kent County Public Schools, will be retiring at the end of the current school year. Dr. Couch announced at this month's Kent County Board of Education meeting that her retirement will be effective June 30, 2024. She said at the Jan. 8 meeting that It has been an honor to collaborate with the exceptional team of administrators, teachers, staff and board members.
The Chestertown Rotary Club Presents the Third Annual “Spring Fling,” to Benefit the Rotary’s Scholarship Fund
The Chestertown Rotary Club presents their third annual “Spring Fling” event at The Chester River Yacht and Country Club, 7738 Quaker Neck Road in Chestertown, March 2nd starting at 5:30pm. This event is a fundraiser to benefit the club’s community scholarship fund. Guests will enjoy an evening’s entertainment including a sumptuous buffet dinner, a silent auction, music from all genres with DJ Mike from Rock and Roll Express.

Compass to Host Winter Volunteer Training
Compass will be offering their three-day training session for any individuals interested in becoming a patient care volunteer. The training session is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. February 3, 10, & 17th. The training will be held at our Barnette Center's Hope & Healing Conference room located at 255 Comet Dr. Centreville, MD 21617.
