Before there was “The Play That Goes Wrong,” there was Michael Frayn’s “Noises Off!” Well, technically, farce has been around as long as Western theatre has existed - some historians have traced its roots back to Aristophanes. Since then, a whole lot of farce throughout history has brought us slamming doors, mistaken identities and convoluted misunderstandings. But there is some modern farce that stands out above others, and “Noises Off” is one of them.
UM Shore Regional Health’s Glenda Cornish Receives MSNAAC’s CNA of the Year Award
Glenda Cornish, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at UM Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), was recently awarded the Mid Shore Nursing Assistant Advisory Council’s CNA of the Year Award. “I am honored and thrilled to be selected as CNA of the Year,” said Cornish. “My profession gives me great joy and I’m proud to be recognized for excellence in patient care.”
Ruehrmund Retires from UM Chester River Health Foundation
Maryann Ruehrmund, CFRE, ACHE, Executive Director and Chief Development Officer of the University of Maryland Chester River Health Foundation (UM CRHF), is retiring this month after nearly three decades of service. UM CRHF raises funds to support quality patient care at University of Maryland Shore Medical at Chestertown, a member organization of University of Maryland Shore Regional Heath (UM SRH) and the University of Maryland Medical System.

Chestertown playwright Earl Lewin has written a new play about the ways in which finding one’s true inner self can change the lives of everyone involved. “Tinker Street,” will be presented as a staged reading at the Garfield Center on Saturday, October 12th as a pay-as-you-go fundraiser. Tickets will not be sold in advance.

For All Seasons’ No Matter What…You Matter annual Suicide Prevention Campaign's goal is to prevent suicide on Maryland's Eastern Shore through education and increased access to crisis resources. The agency’s 2024 Speaker Series, “Be a Lifeline: Recognizing and Responding to Those at Risk of Suicide," recently held in Easton and Cambridge, helped participants understand how we can each play a critical role in suicide prevention.
KCHS FFA Members to Attend National Conference
Kent County High School’s FFA members are headed to Indiana for the youth agriculture program’s national convention. The 97th annual National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis runs Oct. 23-26, featuring agricultural science fair demonstrations, competitions, workshops, award ceremonies and more.
