Kent County Chamber to Host Commissioner Candidates in Local Candidate Forum

The Kent County Chamber of Commerce will host the Commissioner Candidates for the upcoming General Election on Friday, October 21st at 2:00 p.m. via Zoom. During the discussion, the candidates will answer questions prepared by the Kent County Chamber of Commerce's Voice of Business Committee, specifically related to Kent County businesses and organizations and each candidate's vision for the future of the county. This will be a facilitated Question and Answer event. Kate Van Name, Chair of the Voice of the Business Committee and Kent County Chamber of Commerce Board Member, will ask questions from the below list.

Please provide a brief introduction answering the below questions: (2 Minutes per Candidate)

  • Why do you want to be a county commissioner?

  • What in your personal or professional background best prepares you to be a Kent County Commissioner?

 

County Questions: (1 Minute response per Candidate)

  • What is your vision for the future of Kent County and what is the most important change you would advocate for and why?

  • What are the two biggest challenges facing the county today and what can county government do better to address those challenges?

  • What is your position on the future of healthcare in Kent County?

  • What is your position on the future of public education in Kent County?

  • What is the most pressing infrastructure need in the county?

 

Tax Question: (1 Minute response per Candidate)

  • What are the areas where the County and Towns need to improve communication to enhance tax revenue distribution, reduce waste, or eliminate duplication of efforts?

 

Chamber Member Questions: (1 Minute response per Candidate)

  • What will you do to attract more state and federal funding to the County (i.e., Community Development Block Grants currently left on the table)?

  • How would you facilitate having more local affordable housing availability for employers and employees?
