Greetings and happy May to our valued chamber members.
It’s officially been one year (405 days to be exact but who's counting…) since I’ve assumed the executive director position with the Kent County Chamber of Commerce. What excited me the most about taking on this role was the impact I knew I could have in helping member businesses grow and thrive. I’m incredibly proud of the platforms we’ve built and improved during the past year that better enable our members to broadcast their message and successes. At this point, there isn’t a single thing we haven’t refreshed, updated, or replaced—all a part of our unending quest to add value to your membership.
We set about rebuilding our digital infrastructure to better facilitate the promotion of our members and in this update, I want to provide an outline regarding how specifically you can tap into these resources to better promote and grow your organization.
Members in the News
Was your business recently featured in the media? Let us know and we will happily share the article in our next newsletter so all of our members can see the exciting things you are working on.
Press Releases
We are eager to share your organization’s accomplishments. As a complimentary benefit to members, we will publish press releases you issue and send us on our website under Member Updates, post to our social media accounts, and distribute in our monthly newsletter. Check out our guide on how to write a press release here. Or, consult with one of our marketing members.
Event Promotion
Members are able to post events they are hosting directly onto the Chamber’s Event page. This is a complimentary benefit and can be done through your info hub. Click here to learn how to create your account. Are you interested in publishing an event to the Chamber’s calendar? Contact Jen Rickert, administrative assistant, for more information.
Job Announcements
For director-level positions and above, we offer complimentary marketing services for members who are promoting job openings. We will publish the job listing on our website, social media, and will send an e-blast to members with the job announcement. We are in the business of helping your business.
Website Advertising
We’ve made dramatic upgrades and improvements to our website. This has resulted in a sharp increase in monthly sessions and the average session duration. With visitors coming to our site to specifically read about business in Kent County, we are excited to have a platform for members to advertise on. For extremely affordable rates, we offer premiere banner advertisement and side panel advertisement to our members for 30-days for an exceptionally low rate—$100 x month for a banner ad and $25 x month for a side panel ad. Interested in learning more? Contact me for more information.
E-Blasts
The most effective way to market your business, service, or event. For $25, we will send a promotional email of your organization to all members of the Kent Chamber. This is the very best way to make your business known to the community—by having it delivered straight to the inboxes of our business and community leaders. Contact Jen Rickert to learn more. New members get their first e-blast free.
These are just some of the ways you can leverage your chamber membership to grow your business. They are cost-effective, easy, and most importantly—work.
As the weather warms and more COVID vaccines get distributed, in-person events will begin to play an integral part in the Kent Chamber’s operation again. I’ll provide a quick overview on how to leverage the power of chamber events and networking in the upcoming months.
In the meantime, the Kent Chamber is working diligently to ensure every member takes pride in their membership.
In service,
Sam Shoge, Executive Director
