The Mainstay in Rock Hall will present an evening of Brazilian jazz and bossa nova when vocalist Daniela Soledade and guitarist Nate Najar return to the venue for their Love and Bossa Nova concert on Saturday April 11 at 7:30 PM. The performance brings the internationally touring duo back to the Eastern Shore following a recent European tour and continues The Mainstay’s tradition of presenting outstanding artists from the international jazz and acoustic music scene.
Brazilian born vocalist Daniela Soledade has gained international recognition for her warm voice, expressive stage presence, and deep connection to the musical traditions of Brazil. Her performances celebrate the classic repertoire of Brazilian songwriters while bringing a contemporary spirit to the elegant rhythms of bossa nova and samba jazz. Bossa nova emerged in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1950s as a sophisticated fusion of samba rhythms and jazz harmony and quickly became one of Brazil’s most influential musical exports.
Joining Soledade is acclaimed American guitarist Nate Najar, widely recognized as one of the leading modern interpreters of the Brazilian jazz guitar tradition. Najar performs on the nylon string classical guitar and is strongly influenced by legendary guitarist Charlie Byrd, whose pioneering work helped introduce bossa nova to American audiences. Over the course of his career Najar has collaborated with a wide range of notable jazz artists and has appeared at festivals and concert venues across the United States and internationally.
Together Soledade and Najar have developed the Love and Bossa Nova concert program, an engaging performance that celebrates the timeless songs of Antônio Carlos Jobim and other Brazilian composers alongside original material and jazz standards. Their concerts combine lyrical vocals, virtuoso guitar playing, and the relaxed rhythmic elegance that defines Brazilian jazz.
The duo has become a favorite with Mainstay audiences through previous appearances that brought enthusiastic responses from listeners who filled the intimate 120 seat listening room. Their return to the venue following recent international touring continues The Mainstay’s commitment to presenting exceptional musicians from around the world in a setting that allows audiences to experience the music up close.
The Mainstay, located in the harbor town of Rock Hall, Maryland, has served as a nonprofit center for live music on Maryland’s Eastern Shore for nearly three decades. The venue presents a year round schedule of concerts featuring jazz, folk, classical, blues, bluegrass, and Americana artists in an attentive listening environment.
Tickets for Love and Bossa Nova with Daniela Soledade and Nate Najar on Saturday April 11 at 7:30 PM are available through InstantSeats and through The Mainstay website. Additional information about the concert and other upcoming performances can be found at mainstayrockhall.org.
