ESAHEC Job Announcement: Executive Director

Position Description: The Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is seeking applicants for the position of Executive Director. 

Job Summary: The Executive Director (ED) position is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week. In order to effectively network and build relationships, local travel throughout the Eastern Shore is expected on a regular basis. National travel may be required, but is minimal. The ED is appointed by the Board of Directors and is responsible for executing the policies of the AHEC. The ED works under the direction of and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The ED is charged with providing leadership and overall administration and management responsibility for the AHEC’s operations in accordance with the bylaws and budget as adopted by the Board of Directors. The ED is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operation of the organization, leading and managing a committed team. 

Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will have experience creating and managing budgets, grant writing and administration, policy development, fundraising, marketing, and public speaking. The ideal candidate will possess either the minimum of a bachelor's degree and/or 5 years experience working in a non-profit healthcare environment. Strong computer skills are required, including but not limited to Microsoft Office 365 and Google workspace. 

Additional Requirements: The Executive Director must be a resident of the Eastern Shore of Maryland or commit to relocating within six months of hire. 

Overall Responsibilities: 

● Develop and direct organizational strategy to drive strategic planning, fundraising, and stakeholder relationships to achieve the organization's mission and goals, set in collaboration with the Board of Directors. 

● Establish and meet annual fundraising goals, in partnership with board of directors, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources.

● Work with staff and board on annual fundraising events, and oversee all external communications, including website, marketing collateral, newsletters, and social media ● Identify grant funding opportunities appropriate to the Center’s mission and assist the Grant Writer with developing or develop winning proposals. 

● Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market the brand of the Center. 

● Develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and Center funding. 

● Expand current programs and identify need and funding sources for new programs ● Build and lead an effective team that is dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through highly successful programs, community engagement, and fundraising ● Approve purchases and building maintenance expenses. 

Salary: Salary is commensurate with experience. Range: $75,000-$90,000 Benefits: 

Leave time 

8 hours sick and 8 hours vacation leave per month, up to 5 days per year for personal leave, all State of Maryland Holidays, plus 4 additional Administrative days. 

Health, Dental, Vision, Prescription, Life and AD&D insurances are available. No cost for employee only coverage. Adding dependents costs vary depending on coverage amounts and number of dependents. 

Simplified Employee Pension plan. 8% contribution each month of employee’s gross earnings after 6 months probation.
