Join us on Friday, February 28 at 10am at the Chestertown branch to learn more about
the ins and outs of what it takes to be a star library volunteer. If you aren’t able to attend
this event, please email public@kentlib.org or call 410.778.3636 for more information.
There are so many ways to show your love for the library – borrowing books and other items, coming to library programs, telling library staff you appreciate what they do, attending KCPL’s Board of Trustees meetings, advocating for library funding, and more!
This February, you can also show your library love by applying to become a library volunteer, and by taking advantage of no judgement returns to bring back any overdue items you have no matter how long you've had them checked out.
Become a Star Library Volunteer
After a long hiatus, KCPL’s Volunteer Program is starting up again! Library volunteers support the library in a variety of ways, including shelving books, assisting with program preparation, and working on special projects. Currently, volunteer opportunities are available at the Chestertown location for adults and teens (age 14+).

Bring It Back and Borrow Again
We know how it is when you check out a book or DVD and love it so much you forget to bring it back on time. No judgement from us when this happens to you!
KCPL is a fine free library and doesn’t charge late fees. But if you have an item out for a really long time (more than 42 days after its due date), it will be marked as lost and you'll be charged for the cost of the item. The good news is that when you return that item, as long as it’s still in good condition, the replacement cost is removed from your account!
So, whenever you realize you still have items checked out from the library –– even if they’re very overdue –– please do bring them back. That way, we know they aren’t lost forever, you aren’t charged to replace them, and other people get to enjoy them, too. Plus, don’t forget that you can always borrow a favorite item again and again!
We look forward to seeing you at the library soon! If you are curious about what else the library has to offer, including our many upcoming free programs for all ages, visit kentcountylibrary.org, call 410.778.3636, or stop by KCPL’s locations in Chestertown, Galena, or Rock Hall.
