Kent School, an independent school serving children in Preschool through Grade 8 in Chestertown is seeking individuals to fill open positions in administration and faculty. Kent School is seeking a Director of Finance and Operations to join the administrative team. The Director of Finance and Operations is a member of the Administrative Council and reports directly to the Head of School. They support the Board of Trustees, the Finance, and the Building and Grounds Committees. The Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for all aspects of financial oversight, including the organization, management, and implementation of comprehensive business, financial, and investment initiatives for the School.
Responsibilities include management and strategic leadership of the business office to ensure that appropriate financial controls are utilized effectively. The Director of Finance and Operations oversees finance, the audit, facilities and security, budgeting and planning, purchasing, technology, endowment, risk management, legal, human resources, and related interactions with parents, faculty, and employees.
The School is also hiring an Early Childhood Education expert to become the Director of Little School, Kent School’s Preschool program. The Little School enrolls 30 students ages 3-5. The ideal candidate will possess a sincere commitment and passion for the care and education of young children. The Director is a member of the School’s Administrative Council, and reports to the Head of School. This position also requires working one day per week of after school care until 5:00pm.
Applicants must have a passion for the School’s mission, at least five years of experience in an early childhood education setting, and must be a team player with excellent communication skills. Professionalism, patience, a positive attitude, and a joy for teaching our youngest learners is essential. College graduates preferred.

In the area of Teaching and Learning, Kent School is looking for an experienced teacher to join the Middle School as a History Teacher. The ideal candidate is a passionate and experienced Middle School History teacher with a strong background in teaching government and US History to Grades 5-8. This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Academics.
The successful candidate will be a creative teacher who engages and inspires students and who thrives in a collaborative atmosphere. We seek an individual who is committed to developing a multicultural curriculum and who purposefully integrates technology as it facilitates learning.
In Lower School, the position of Second Grade Teacher is open. The ideal candidate should love working with young children and have the ability to work cooperatively with the Lower School faculty. This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Academics.
