Do you have a passion for photography or just like to capture special moments with your phone? Do you love your local waterways and want to promote and protect them? ShoreRivers is running its 2022 Photo Contest from June through October, so snap a picture and send it our way! Your photo could be seen across the Eastern Shore—contest photos are displayed in ShoreRivers’ printed publications and at our outreach events, which reach thousands of people annually.

98 Cannon Reopens as Riverfront Dock Bar

Waterfront dining is back in Downtown Chestertown as 98 Cannon Riverfront Grille has reopened as 98 Cannon Riverfront Dock Bar, with covered seating on the patio and beautiful views of the Chester River. The restaurant is currently offering a modified menu including burgers, tacos, wraps, pulled pork barbecue, nachos, and more. The bar is serving beer (and beer buckets), wine, and cocktails. 98 Cannon will be open daily from 11 am until 9 pm, weather permitting. The visual arts and music teachers at H.H. Garnet Elementary School invite the community to a special event in the Good Seeds Garden for Chestertown's First Friday. Arts in the Garden will celebrate the school and community partnerships in the arts. It will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 3 in the Good Seeds Garden, which is maintained in collaboration with the Chestertown Garden Club.

In a pair of visits to local schools last week, musician and entrepreneur Andrea Fisher sought to teach students how to break new ground and forge their own identities in whatever they choose to become. Fisher, a professional flutist and graduate of the Julliard School, came to Kent County High School and H.H. Garnet Elementary School Wednesday, May 18 to speak with and perform for students.

Kent School Student Miles Hubbert Competes in Scripps National Spelling Bee

Miles Hubbert, a Fourth Grade student at Kent School in Chestertown will be competing in the National Scripps Spelling Bee. Preliminary rounds begin Tuesday, May 31 at 9:00 a.m. Nancy Mugele, Head of Kent School said, “The entire Kent School community will be rooting for Speller #37, Miles, through each stage of the competition. We might even spend part of our academic morning streaming the competition here at school!”
