MBRT Hosts College and Career Fair at KCHS

Nearly 245 students, teachers and community members gathered in Trojan Arena at Kent County High School on Thursday, April 20 for the second annual College and Career Fair. Kent County Public Schools and Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) partnered to offer fair.  Participants visited with 110 representatives from 75 organizations, ranging from colleges and branches of the military to local businesses and government offices.

Many large cruising (and racing) multihulls are beginning their annual northward migration  from Florida and the Caribbean in order to avoid the hurricane season.  The Chesapeake Bay is a popular destination for those sailors to spend their summer.  The Bay offers good sailing, interesting places to explore, and readily available marine services.  Plus, hurricanes rarely visit the Chesapeake.

Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller toured the Benedictine campus as part of the new administrations first 100 days in office. The tour was conducted by Benedictine Executive Director Scott Evans and Assistant Principal Stephanie Franklin. Benedictine leadership team and board members, local officials, supported adults, students, and parents also had the opportunity to meet with the Lieutenant Governor.

During the campaign, the agency shared meaningful stories through video interviews shared by its clients, community members, and board members.

Compass’ Camp New Dawn Registration Open for Campers and Volunteers

Registration is open for the 29th annual Camp New Dawn, a grief retreat summer camp offered through Compass.  Camp New Dawn is a four-day, three-night retreat held each summer at Camp Pecometh in Centreville.  Camp New Dawn is a grief retreat hosted by Compass for children, teens and families who are struggling with the loss of a loved one. Campers learn healthy coping skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. They engage in group discussions and activities with other kids who have experienced loss and interact with professional grief counselors.

KCPS Offers Summer Programs for Students

Students in Kent County Public Schools will have an opportunity to accelerate their learning with summer programs being offered in July. Programs include acceleration academies, credit recovery, an algebra bootcamp and a chance to explore Kent County Public Schools' Career and Technology Education (CTE) pathways. Each elementary school and the middle school are offering summer acceleration academy programs.

For All Seasons is Building Dynamic Leadership for Social Workers & Professional Counselors with New Training Program

For All Seasons is providing a unique Supervisor Credentialing Training for social workers and professional counselors at The Point at Pintail in Queenstown, Maryland on June 23 to 25, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The three-day in-person training fulfills the 24 credit-hour training necessary for professional counselors and social workers to obtain the licensure that allows them to provide clinical oversight and supervision of interns and early-career therapists.
