Benedictine’s Spring Fundraising Gala “An Evening In Casablanca” Held at Trident Aircraft Hangar

The Benedictine Foundation held its annual Spring Gala fundraiser, themed “An Evening In Casablanca,” on Saturday, May 6th for the first time at the Trident Aircraft Hangar in Easton catered by Momma Maria’s. The new location will allow Benedictine to grow its fundraiser and expand its outreach into the Easton Community. The “Dignity of Work” video was premiered and community awards were presented at the celebratory gathering of Benedictine’s supporters, families, friends and community members. This important fundraiser benefits the children and adults living with developmental disabilities and autism that Benedictine supports.

Alumna Kathleen Hurd ‘01 Joins Kent School Board of Trustees

Local attorney, Kent School alumna and parent Kathleen Wootton Hurd was recently elected to the Kent School Board of Trustees. Hurd was a member of Kent School’s Class of ‘01. She graduated from The Gunston School ('05), James Madison University (’09), cum laude, and the University of Baltimore School of Law (’12) magna cum laude. Hurd was named a partner of Rasin, Wootton and Hurd, LLC in 2015. She joined the firm in 2012. She is currently practicing in the areas of Real Estate, Wills, and Estates and Trusts.

Wilson-Hypes Named Health Educator for Shore Medical Center at Chestertown’s  Rural Health Care Transformation Team

Sandra Wilson-Hypes has joined the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown as Health Educator on the hospital’s Rural Health Care Transformation team. The Health Educator provides leadership and collaboration with local community partners in developing and managing community health education programs and campaigns offered through the Chestertown hospital’s Aging and Wellness Center.

Local artists, officials, students and community members gathered in Chestertown Tuesday, May 23 for the opening of a new temporary public art exhibit. In honor of Memorial Day, the Poppies for Peace art installation on the lawn of the R. Clayton Mitchell Jr. Kent County Government Center at 400 High St. in Chestertown evoked the historical Flanders Field and World War I.
