The Chestertown Rotary  Club presents their third annual “Spring Fling” event at The  Chester River Yacht and Country Club, 7738 Quaker Neck Road  in Chestertown, March 2nd starting at 5:30pm.  This event is a fundraiser to benefit the club’s community scholarship fund. Guests will enjoy an evening’s entertainment including a  sumptuous buffet dinner, a silent auction, music from all genres with DJ Mike  from Rock and Roll Express.

The high school's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program is a partner in Apprenticeship Maryland, offering students paid workforce opportunities. Kent County businesses are invited to an information session about the Apprenticeship Maryland program and how they can join at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Donation to Help Purchase New Musical Instruments

Thanks to a gift made possible by the Kent Cultural Alliance in partnership with the Shared Earth Foundation, music students here have some much-needed new instruments coming their way. Kent Cultural Alliance Executive Director John Schratwieser announced the donation of $15,000 at the Kent County Board of Education meeting Monday, Dec. 11. The funds will be used to purchase new instruments ranging from bell kits for elementary and middle school students to a new tuba and baritone saxophone for the high school band.

Foster, Porcher Receive Golden Anchor Awards

A retired educator and one of the school system's newer teachers were both honored with Golden Anchor Awards at the December Kent County Board of Education meeting. Evelyn Foster and Abigial Porcher received their Golden Anchor awards from their respective principals Monday evening, Dec. 11. The Golden Anchor Award is presented each month to staff members or groups of employees who exemplify the mission and core values of Kent County Public Schools.
