The Chestertown Rotary Club presents their third annual “Spring Fling” event at The Chester River Yacht and Country Club, 7738 Quaker Neck Road in Chestertown, March 2nd starting at 5:30pm. This event is a fundraiser to benefit the club’s community scholarship fund. Guests will enjoy an evening’s entertainment including a sumptuous buffet dinner, a silent auction, music from all genres with DJ Mike from Rock and Roll Express.
Compass will be offering their three-day training session for any individuals interested in becoming a patient care volunteer. The training session is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. February 3, 10, & 17th. The training will be held at our Barnette Center's Hope & Healing Conference room located at 255 Comet Dr. Centreville, MD 21617.
Local businesses can help train tomorrow's workforce today thanks to a program offered through Kent County High School. The high school's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program is a partner in Apprenticeship Maryland, offering students paid workforce opportunities. Kent County businesses are invited to an information session about the Apprenticeship Maryland program and how they can join at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30.
Radcliffe Creek School, a leading K-8 institution dedicated to serving students with diverse learning needs, is thrilled to announce its upcoming Professionals Breakfast on January 25. This event offers a unique opportunity for professionals of the Mid-Shore region to engage with the school’s faculty, explore the campus, and delve into the innovative methodologies employed to create hands-on, individualized learning environments.
Working in collaboration with primary and specialty care providers throughout the region, University of Maryland Shore Regional Health’s Population Health team has made significant progress in the past year toward the goal of helping people with chronic diseases manage their conditions to maintain optimal health in their home settings.
Thanks to a gift made possible by the Kent Cultural Alliance in partnership with the Shared Earth Foundation, music students here have some much-needed new instruments coming their way. Kent Cultural Alliance Executive Director John Schratwieser announced the donation of $15,000 at the Kent County Board of Education meeting Monday, Dec. 11. The funds will be used to purchase new instruments ranging from bell kits for elementary and middle school students to a new tuba and baritone saxophone for the high school band.

The day was just right for gathering at the courtyard behind The Kitchen at the Imperial to sample crab soups and local wines. The Chestertown Rotary Club’s 6th Annual Soup & Sip crab soup competition on October 21 was the occasion, and folks from the area as well as visitors to town gathered to choose the winners.
A retired educator and one of the school system's newer teachers were both honored with Golden Anchor Awards at the December Kent County Board of Education meeting. Evelyn Foster and Abigial Porcher received their Golden Anchor awards from their respective principals Monday evening, Dec. 11. The Golden Anchor Award is presented each month to staff members or groups of employees who exemplify the mission and core values of Kent County Public Schools.
