Film Showing of “Death On The Chesapeake: A Hard Rain”

On Friday, November 7 the Mainstay is pleased to present a showing of “Death On the Chesapeake: A Hard Rain”, a new documentary film that explores the increasing number of threats the Chesapeake Bay now presents to its neighbors (flesh eating bacteria, drowning fish) and the straightforward explanation of its human cause.

The Chesapeake bay is the largest estuary in the United States and it's not being monitored. The water quality of the bay is severely impaired and so many people are unaware of the enormous impact it's having on our population as a whole. Restoring the bay is no small feat, but when "everyone's downstream from somebody", it's important to start educating ourselves and care about the quality of water we are leaving behind for the next generations to come. Film Producer John Laskos will be on hand to introduce the film and lead a discussion after.

The Annapolis Maritime Museum sold out a premier showing of the film on August 20th.

Showtime for this special film showing at the Mainstay is 7 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at mainstayrockhall.org. Phone reservations are accepted by calling (410) 639-9133. The Mainstay is located at 5753 N Main Street in Rock Hall.
