BAAR Hosts Back to School Trivia Night School Supply Drive to Benefit KCPS

Bay Area Association of Realtors (BAAR) hosted a Back to School Trivia Night School Supply Drive on August 8th, 2023 to benefit Kent County Public Schools. BAAR is a non-profit organization that supports local communities in Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Caroline Counties. It is a professional association of Realtors and Affiliate organizations that provides forums for professional growth, networking opportunities, leadership opportunities, professional standards, and community outreach.

The event was held at the Blue Bird Tavern, and Trivia participants were asked to bring school supplies or monetary donations as their entry fee for the event. In addition to Trivia Night, donation boxes were placed in the Blue Bird Tavern and Chestertown offices of The Peoples Bank where customers, patrons, and employees donated school supplies. Between the Trivia Night Event and the donation boxes, an abundance of school supplies were donated, along with $800 in monetary funds used to purchase additional school supplies.

BAAR sponsored the event and donated over 100 backpacks.  Additional sponsors for the event were The Peoples Bank (Cecil Reihl, Vice President/Lender) and M&T Bank (Mike Steinhice, Vice President/Lender) who sponsored the food, and Amy Larrauri, Realtor for RE/MAX Executive who sponsored the trivia contest hosted by Moore and Les of WCTR.

The staff at the Blue Bird did an outstanding job serving the crowd and Patricia Lewis, owner of the Blue Bird, graciously donated prizes for 1st and 2nd place winners - hand-painted glassware with a free drink ticket in each glass.

1st place winners were a team of teachers from Sudlersville Elementary School.  The 2nd place winners were a team of employees from The Peoples Bank.

A $25 gift card was given to the team with the best creative name.  It was graciously donated by Amy Larrauri and won by “Kicking Assets,” a team from The Peoples Bank.  The team donated the gift card back to BAAR to purchase additional school supplies.

The school supplies and backpacks were delivered to the Kent County Board of Education to be distributed to the students in Kent County Public Schools.
