The Maryland State Department of Education opened a pathway for school systems to repurpose certain days as virtual instruction days in the 2022-2023 school year.

Kent County Public Schools will have the opportunity to use a total of eight virtual days. No more than three days may be used as asynchronous.

Kent County Public Schools administrators, in collaboration with teachers and staff, have developed a plan to ensure meaningful and equitable virtual instruction.

Inclement weather days such as snow days, professional learning days and high school graduation days are part of the proposed plan.

A summary of the plan, as presented to the Kent County Board of Education Monday, July 18, is available for review at www.kent.k12.md.us.

The public also is welcome to address the Kent County Board of Education Monday, Aug. 8 during the Public Participation portion of the board's meeting.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. with the board immediately going into closed session. The public portion of the meeting will reconvene at 6:30 p.m.
