Kent School, an independent day school located on the bank of the Chester River in historic Chestertown, Maryland serving girls and boys in Preschool through Grade 8, seeks a full time Second Grade teacher for the 2026 - 2027 academic year. The ideal candidate should love working with young children and have the ability to work cooperatively with the Lower School faculty. This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Academics.
Responsibilities include:
Providing daily instruction in English/Language Arts, Math and Social Studies
Designing learning activities to promote intellectual and creative growth
Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents
Creating a fun and safe learning environment
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Passion for the School’s mission
Bachelor’s in Elementary Education or a related field required.
Three to five years of lead teaching experience in a Lower School environment
Familiarity with multi-sensory or structured literacy approaches
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent listener and skillful communicator
Lifelong learner
