Paella Night Fundraiser Hosted by The Peoples Bank Raises $4,290 for Open Doors Partners in Education

The Peoples Bank is happy to announce the success of its recent Paella Party fundraiser, which raised $4,290 in support of Open Doors Partners in Education, Inc., a local nonprofit dedicated to increasing literacy and educational opportunities for students in our community. The event also brought in $1,600 in direct donations to the organization in addition to establishing a connection to a local family that is now receiving services.

Held on Monday, June 9th at The Little Lemon Leaf Diner in Rock Hall, the event featured two seatings of guests who gathered to enjoy a flavorful evening of food and philanthropy. The culinary centerpiece of the night was the signature paella prepared by Guest Chef David Bowman, Chief Lending Officer at The Peoples Bank, who brought both his culinary skills and community spirit to the table.

The Peoples Bank extends heartfelt thanks to J.R. Alfree and his dedicated staff for generously hosting the event at The Little Lemon Leaf Diner, creating the perfect setting for the evening. Special thanks also go to Chester River Wine and Cheese for their generous donation of rice, and to Sudlersville Meat Locker for providing poultry for the paella—local support that truly made this event a community effort.

“We’re incredibly proud of the turnout and the generosity of those who attended,” said Bowman. “Open Doors does life-changing work, and we’re honored to support them in a meaningful way.”

Open Doors Partners in Education, Inc. (www.opendoorsed.org) is committed to increasing the literacy rate of struggling readers by providing tutoring, offering educational enrichment opportunities, and raising community awareness about learning differences in Kent County and surrounding communities. The proceeds from this event will help further their mission and expand their reach to even more students in need.
