The month begins on Wednesday, February 4 at 6:00 PM with a community forum inviting the public to meet the Mainstay team, enjoy pizza and snacks, and share ideas, thoughts, and visions for the year ahead. The evening sets the tone for a season rooted in community, creativity, and shared purpose.
The performance season opens in full swing on Saturday, February 7 with a spirit rousing concert honoring Black History Month featuring the amazing vocals and storytelling of Karen Somerville joined by emcee, Reverend Leon Frison, and some very special guests. The program draws on the power and tradition of gospel music, bringing voices and stories together in a celebration grounded in history and spirit.
On Thursday, February 12 at 5:30, The Mainstay hosts a free Pub Nite with doo wop vocalist Dan Saunders performing Songs of Love. This relaxed, no cover evening offers a midweek chance to gather for classic harmonies, timeless romance, and an easygoing night of music.
Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, and on February 14 The Mainstay marks the occasion with Deanna Bogart and her band. Known for her commanding stage presence and her blend of blues, jazz, and roots influences, Bogart delivers a high energy performance well suited to a night devoted to love and live music.
The celebration continues on Tuesday, February 17 with a Mardi Gras party featuring Philip Dutton and the Alligators. New Orleans inspired rhythms and festive spirit promise an evening full of movement and good cheer.
On Friday, February 20, Joe Holt launches a new Special Friday series with Clash of the Countertenors. The concert pairs countertenors Lester Barrett and Augustine Gus Mercante in a program that blends classical technique with theatrical flair, offering something both surprising and distinctive.
Classical music takes center stage on Sunday afternoon, February 22, when the Brasswood Trio appears as part of The Mainstay’s Classical Music Series sponsored by The Hedgelawn Foundation. The chamber oboe, piano and French Horn concert provides an accessible and engaging introduction to classical repertoire in an intimate listening environment.
February concludes on Saturday, February 28 with The Black Eyed Suzies, also sponsored by The Hedgelawn Foundation, an all female bluegrass band celebrated for tight harmonies, strong musicianship, and an infectious sense of joy that makes for a fitting close to the opening month of the season.
