Benedictine Spring Gala Held at Tidewater Inn After 3-Year Hiatus
After a 3-year hiatus, Benedictine staff, families, board and community members and the developmentally disabled and autistic children and adults that Benedictine serves, held its spring gala weekend. Held at the Tidewater Inn in Easton, this event allows for a celebration of the organization’s accomplishments of the past year and to also raise funds to support the needs of Benedictine and those they serve.
Kent School Celebrates Class of 2022 in 53rd Graduation
For the first time since 2019, the Kent School community gathered in the M. V. “Mike” Williams Gymnasium to celebrate a graduating class. The sixteen members of the Class of 2022 were happy to be the class to resume this time-honored Kent School tradition on June 8, 2022. The class was recognized for their embodiment of academic, artistic, athletic and moral excellence.
Kent Attainable Housing, Inc., Awarded One of Only Two Allocations in Kent County for Maryland’s Community Investment Tax Credit Program for 2022
Kent Attainable Housing, Inc. (KAH), Kent County’s affordable housing program helping limited-income working families become homeowners, has received an allocation of $30,000 in State tax credits to help fund the construction of a new home on Prospect Street in downtown Chestertown. KAH is one of two Kent county non-profits that Gov. Hogan recently announced as tax credit recipients for FY2022-2023. We’re proud to share this honor with Shore Medical Center in Chestertown (SMCC), who received an allocation to help fund a new hematology analyzer. Whether the investment is in affordable housing or healthcare excellence, Kent County benefits.
Maryland Tax Credits Awarded to Main Street Historic Chestertown
Main Street Historic Chestertown (MSHC) has been awarded an allocation of Maryland state tax credits to support its 2022 fundraising efforts. The Community Investment Tax Credits (CITC) are awarded by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development through a highly competitive application process. The CITC program provides a tax credit to donors equal to 50% of any donation of $500 or greater.
Great Oak Manor Announces New Executive Chef
Brooks Bradbury, General Manager of Great Oak Manor, has announced the hiring of Executive Chef Winston Guerrero. Chef Winston will be responsible for the new direction of all Great Oak Manor culinary operations. “We are delighted to welcome Chef Winston Guerrero to Great Oak Manor. Mobile Wellness Team Launches Grant-Funded Community Garden Project
The University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown’s Mobile Wellness Team is one of 18 organizations in Caroline, Dorchester and Kent counties awarded $5,000 grants in April 2022 by the Mid Shore Health Improvement Coalition. The Mobile Wellness Team requested the grant funds to create produce gardens at local schools, churches, residential care communities, YMCAs and senior centers, and at organizations serving persons with disabilities and those in recovery from substance abuse.
