On Wednesday, October 4, Kent School will host a secondary school fair for students in Grades Six, Seven and Eight and their parents or guardians. Kent School’s secondary school fair is open to all families in the area and there is no fee to attend. The event will be held in the M. V. “Mike” Williams Gymnasium from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Deep Blue at Kitty Knight Supports KCPS Foundation
Deep Blue at Kitty Knight is giving back to local schools with a fundraiser this month. Dine in at Deep Blue anytime between noon and 8 p.m. on Sept. 27 and the Galena restaurant will donate 20% of all proceeds to the Kent County Public Schools Education Foundation. The KCPS Education Foundation provides grants to teachers for innovative and dynamic classroom programs.

Choptank Health Mobile Unit Now in Chestertown
Choptank Community Health System is bringing its mobile healthcare unit to Chestertown to help serve people in Kent County. The initiative is made possible through a partnership with Choptank Health, the Town of Chestertown, and the Chestertown Police Department. The mobile unit will be used to provide medical, behavioral health, and dental services to communities in Kent County.
Free Family Workshop Sept. 27
The Kent County Special Education Citizen's Advisory Committee is hosting a presentation later this month for parents and community members with a leading behavioral expert. Dr. Joanne Kling to hold a free family workshop on "Behavioral Challenges" from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Kent County Middle School.

Upward Bound at Chesapeake College Preps Teens for College and Beyond
For more than 50 years, Upward Bound has been preparing students in -need for college and success after graduation. Students in the program receive guidance and resources from 9thgrade through college. Founded in 1965, it was the first federally funded program to help low-income and first-generation students succeed in higher education and attain middle class status. Locally, the program helped students through the mid-1990s. Now Upward Bound is back on the Mid-Shore thanks to three federal grants awarded to Chesapeake College this year.
