Kent School’s Hosts Sixth Annual Empty Bowls Benefit

On Friday, November 10 at 6:00 p.m. Kent School will host its Sixth Annual Empty Bowls event to benefit The Kent County Food Pantry.  Empty Bowls is an international project to fight hunger, personalized by artists and art organizations on a community level. Guests enjoy a variety of homemade soups and breads with the purchase of a student-made ceramic bowl. Each bowl is $10. All proceeds from the sale of the bowls will go to The Kent County Food Pantry. This event is a collaboration between the Kent School’s Art Department and the Student Government Association. Kent School’s Empty Bowls event is open to the public.

For All Seasons hosted a free community event, "We All Have a Role to Play in Suicide Prevention," on September 7 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Avalon Theatre in Easton. The event featured Dr. Andrew Moon, a leader within the Veterans Affairs’ National Suicide Prevention Program. Dr. Moon shared his invaluable experience in averting crisis points before suicidality. He is a clinical psychologist with a career focus on trauma, suicide prevention, and education, and is currently the Senior Advisor for Partnerships, Engagement, and Education for the Department of Defense Suicide Prevention Office.

Following on the heels of what has thus far been a very successful 2023 season, the Garfield Center for the Arts has announced a one-night-only addition to their list of events.  The Garfield Center asks you to join them on Friday, November 3rd for a bit of Broadway and a night of great music and entertainment. “Garfield Stars: A First Friday Concert” will revive the format from our 2022 Gala. Garfield Stars is an evening of Broadway songs in 2 sets.

The Chestertown Rotary Club Presents its Annual Soup & Sip

The Chestertown Rotary Club is again hosting its “Soup & Sip” event at The Kitchen at The Imperial at 208 High Street in Chestertown, on Saturday, October 21st from Noon to 3:00 pm. This popular fundraising event, now in its sixth year and will benefit the KCPS “One School, One Book Program for Galena Elementary School. It features local restaurants offering samplings of their signature crab soup recipes for cream of crab or vegetable crab soups in addition to a fine variety of wines.

Galena Judy Center to Hold Grand Opening

Kent County Public Schools' second Judy Center is holding a grand opening celebration this month. The Judy Center Early Learning Hub at Galena Elementary School launched this year and the team there is hosting a grand opening at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24. Families are invited to join the grand opening celebration and visit with the Judy Center's staff and program partners. There will also be food and giveaways at the grand opening.

UM Shore Regional Health’s Senior Leadership team recently hosted post-COVID luncheons for team members in each of the five counties UM SRH serves — Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Talbot and Queen Anne’s — to celebrate the World Health Organization declaring an end to the COVID-19 public health emergency earlier this year and to honor all team members who served during the pandemic as “caregivers.”
