September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! Stop by any of Kent County Public Library’s three locations and learn how a library card can change your life.

 Kent County High School invites the whole community out to see all that it has to offer during its annual Back to School Night!

Compass proudly celebrated another successful year of Camp New Dawn, marking the 31st year of this unique program that helps children, teens, and families navigate grief in a safe, supportive environment.

On Wednesday, October 8, Kent School will host the annual Secondary School Fair for students in Grades Six, Seven and Eight and their parents or guardians. Kent School’s Secondary School Fair is open to all families in the area and there is no fee to attend. The event will be held in the M. V. “Mike” Williams Gymnasium (or outside on our riverside field weather permitting) from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. To date, over 20 schools are registered to attend including several independent, parochial, and area public schools, both day and boarding schools.

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health’s (UM SRH) Palliative Care Program has named Christina Ball, MS, AGACNP-BC, as the practice’s director. Ball has been a nurse practitioner with the practice since 2020. UM SRH is a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System.

Kent County Government is excited to announce the  official launch of its newly redesigned website, created to provide residents, businesses, and  visitors with a more user-friendly, modern, and accessible online experience. 

According to the Centers for Disease Control, in 2023, suicide was among the top eight leading causes of death for people ages 10 to 64 and the second leading cause of death for people ages 10 to 34. To address this urgent issue in our community, For All Seasons is launching its annual suicide prevention campaign under the theme “I'm Fine” Isn’t the Whole Story – a message reminding us that the people we care about might be struggling silently behind words that seem reassuring.

On Saturday, September 27 the Mainstay in Rock Hall welcomes the progressive bluegrass sounds of Big Howdy featuring Dede Wyland on vocals and guitar.

As families settle into the new school year, the YMCA of the Chesapeake is making it easier than ever to get connected and stay active. Throughout the month of September, all eleven YMCA of the Chesapeake branches will waive the $75 joining fee for new members.
