Mid-Shore Community Foundation welcomes eight new members to its board of directors: Leslie Bishop, Suze Chaffinch, LaMonte Cooke, Kathleen Deoudes, Rabbi Peter E. Hyman, Richard “Rich” Loeffler, Dr. Margaret “Peggy” Rennels, and Arraminta Ware.

The Mainstay in Rock Hall, MD, will be hosting the super heroes from Maryland's own R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center on Sunday, who will teach us how to stop traumatic bleeding and perhaps save their life on Sunday, November 2, 20025 from 2 – 3p.m. 

For 40 years, Jeffrey Howard Etherton, MD, has been at the forefront of cardiac care, saving lives and shaping heart health on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. This summer, the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) and UM Shore Medical Group (UM SMG) community celebrated this remarkable milestone, honoring Dr. Etherton’s dedication, leadership and transformative impact on patients and colleagues alike.

Kent School is delighted to welcome author, educator, and child development expert Deborah Farmer Kris for a special day of readings and workshops on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Farmer Kris will share her newest book, Raising Awe Seekers: How the Science of Wonder Helps Our Kids Thrive, and engage students across all divisions of the school—Preschool, Lower School, and Middle School.

On Friday, October 24, the Mainstay in Rock Hall, Maryland, in partnership with the Hedgelawn Foundation, welcomes one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s most popular bluegrass groups – the Eastman String Band. 

Shore Legal Access (SLA) recently welcomed Tom Deliberto, Esq.; Candace Henry; and Kathleen Smith, Esq. to its Board of Directors. Each brings professional expertise and a shared commitment to SLA’s mission of providing free civil legal assistance and connecting clients to essential community services on the Eastern Shore.

Call for Artists! The Kent County Gateway Committee has opened the Gateway to Chestertown public art  competition, inviting artists and teams to propose a permanent landmark along Morgnec Road. The winning design  will celebrate the cultural, historical and natural identity of Kent County while creating a welcoming gateway to  historic Chestertown. Artist commission is $75,000!

The Garfield Center for the Arts has added a fun, Halloween-themed event to their 2025 schedule that will present an evening of music and feature a Costume Contest. “The Kitchen Sink of Horrors” will be presented on the GCA stage on Saturday, October 25th, starting at 8:00 PM. The concert is a fundraiser to support the GCA in advance of their capital improvements campaign. 

On Saturday, October 18, The Mainstay is excited to welcome back the extraordinary jazz pianist Dick Durham. Durham, one of The Mainstay’s most requested performers, is an annual visitor to the 28-year old non-profit music venue. Dick will be joined onstage by Max Murray on upright bass and Greg Burrows on drums.

Rock Hall Elementary School's annual Fall Farmers Market returns in October with free produce. This Community School event will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 at Rock Hall Elementary School.
