The YMCA of the Chesapeake reached more than 600 children and families through water safety education and hands-on learning during National Water Safety Month in May. Branches across the Eastern Shore partnered with schools, youth programs, and families to teach critical skills that can help prevent drowning and build confidence around water.

Kent School proudly celebrated the Graduation of the Class of 2026 during a heartfelt ceremony honoring students’ achievements, growth, and readiness for the next chapter of their educational journeys. Families, faculty, trustees, alumni, and friends gathered to recognize the accomplishments of the graduating class and reflect on the values that have guided students throughout their time at Kent School: curiosity, character, compassion, and a love of learning.

We invite you to join us for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, June 17th, at 5:30 pm, at 134 and 136 Prospect Street in Chestertown, MD. These newly completed homes represent a significant milestone in our mission to expand quality, attainable housing opportunities throughout Kent County. Following the ceremony, the duplex will be open for public viewing. 

Choptank Community Health System has recently welcomed licensed certified social worker-clinical Carly Boughner, LCSW-C, and licensed clinical professional counselor Amy Piccaluga, LCPC, to its behavioral health team serving Maryland’s Mid-Shore communities.

Kent County Public Library invites the whole community to “Unearth A Story” during the  2026 summer reading experience! Running from June 1 through August 31, summer  reading includes a reading challenge and many events – all of which are free!

Families, friends, teachers and community members packed Trojan Arena in Kent County High School Friday, May 29 to celebrate the crowning achievement of the Class of 2026. Principal Kris Hemstetter handed out out diplomas to the 120 seniors walking across the stage in their blue and gold caps and gowns, as they marked the end of one chapter of their lives and the beginning of the next.

When Zachary Smith and The Mardi Gras Kings return to The Mainstay on Saturday, June 6 at 7:30 PM, it will be much more than just another concert. Michael brings more than 30 years of HR and  operations leadership experience, supporting organizations across healthcare, education, manufacturing,  technology, retail, nonprofit, and global corporate environments.  

Kent School, an independent day school located on the bank of the Chester River in historic Chestertown, Maryland serving girls and boys in Preschool through Grade 8, seeks a full time Second Grade teacher for the 2026 - 2027 academic year. The ideal candidate should love working with young children and have the ability to work cooperatively with the Lower School faculty. This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Academics.
