Estate Treasures Announces Annual Fashion Show to Benefit Compass

On October 4, 2021, Estate Treasures will host their annual Fashion Show to benefit Compass. The event will be held at Prospect Bay Country Club starting at 11 am and includes a seated lunch, a cash bar, upscaled boutique, raffles and silent and live auctions. Proceeds from the event will go towards patient care and grief support services offered by Compass.

The Garfield Center for the Arts is preparing to begin work on its 2021 season-closing production of “Shrek the Musical.” Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a side-splitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire.

On Saturday, July 17th, volunteers Rachel Carter, Richard Edwards, Lisa Roemer, Amy Sine, and Candy Tyrell worked alongside Rebuilding Together’s Construction Manager, Scott Brewer, from 8:00 am until noon to construct a wheelchair ramp for Mrs. Scott. Despite the high temperatures and humidity, everyone maintained a cheerful, can-do attitude and the crew ended up getting much further than anticipated.

Mid-Shore Pro Bono announced an allied Pro Bono Call to Action campaign in response to recommendations from The Attorney General’s COVID-19 Access to Justice Task Force. The campaign urges all attorneys in Maryland to take at least one pro bono case or provide a designated number of volunteer hours to provide assistance with the surge in civil cases as a result of COVID-19.

The University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown is taking a significant step in its plans to become a designated Age Friendly Health System with the addition of Katherine Selman, MD, to the hospital’s Emergency Department. Dr. Selman comes to UM Shore Regional Health from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill where she completed a Geriatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship.
